the "Ponchielli"

acrosintagmi and images of Vittorio Dotti

"sedimentation" is the title of a new exhibition at the Library of Vittorio Dotti Ponchielli of Cremona. It is a sequence of thirteen pictures, taken in black and white and printed by the author with analog technology. The salient feature of the proposal is that every frame, in full harmony with the environment gathered in a library, is accompanied by a text 'poetic', also by Dotti, a text that somehow anticipates, complete and expands the meaning contained in the subjects.

From the point of view, the black and white photomontages (because it is the superimposition of faces on rocky concretions or vegetable plots) clearly refers to the productions' abstract 'Best of Nino (think of "Walls" and "hydrographs", "Cellogrammi", "Pirogrammi" the versatile photographer Emile), as well as some interesting works of the Cremonese Antonio Leoni ("The petrified", "Metaphors and Metamorphosis") , not forgetting, of course, disturbing and suggestive "stains" Alfredo Conti, recently exhibited with great success at the Centre "Agora" of Castelverde.

married literary texts to the images are called "acrosintagmi", that is, according to the definition given by the author, in a "chain of acrostics developed sequence based on a metric cell, typically consisting of a short quote poetry, which is also a semantic irradiator. As we understand from the definition, it is strongly bound by the formal texts, sometimes to the point that their decoding 's a bit uncomfortable, but in these cases is the most immediate visual language to come to the rescue, making the acrosintagmi almost always readable. At least, in the author's wishes, proposing his 'experiments', well aware that visitors to the Library Ponchielli people are generally willing to be intrigued by unusual intellectual stimulation.

The exhibition is staged at the Library Ponchielli and will be open free of charge until March 26 in opening hours of the library.
