"The immigrant everywhere too and doubly absent"
"La double absence. Emigrant to immigrant suffering from illusions "
Sayad, 1999
This might be called migrants everywhere too and doubly absent. Both in the country of origin for their families and countrymen, as in the host for the residents. Their in-existence is embarrassing for some and cumbersome for others.
Today the main problem is that our society does not put the "immigration problem" as long as the non-immigrant "becomes an issue" in this sense as before Socrates and then For Plato, the immigrant is " Atopos" or without a place to stay and therefore can not be identified with the other citizens. The immigrant in fact for the host country is neither a citizen nor an alien, but rather falls (pass me the time of Plato) in a "bastard" at the border between social exclusion and civil society. That is the immigrant in our comfortable society through its existence arouses embarrassment cumbersome.
We are well aware that we need immigrants, but we expect to live in our country as well not exist, we would like behave like shadows at the edge of the engine of our economy, as the pistons are fundamental but always replaceable.
Today, fortunately, with the celebration of International Migrants Day, this is not possible, because this event is a flag that stands for the rights of migrants in countries defined, sometimes paradoxically, "host".
"In 1997, the Filipino and Asian migrant organizations began celebrating on December 18 as International Day of Solidarity with Migrants. We chose this date because it was December 18, 1990 that the United Nations adopted the Convention International protection of the rights of all migrants and their families. Relying on this initiative, "December 18" started in late '99 a campaign 'online' for the appointment of an official from the UN International Migrant's Day, with the support of the Migrants Rights International (MRI) of committee promoting the global campaign to ratify the International Convention on the Rights of migrants and numerous other associations. This day was proclaimed last December 4, 2000.
The UN Declaration of this International Migrants Day is an important step, which provides a focal point for all people worldwide who are interested the protection of migrants.
First is to recognize the contribution made by millions of migrants to the economies and the welfare of host countries and countries of origin, and to promote respect for their fundamental rights. Dignity and respect is the motto of the celebrations this year. "
